Waterloo Region under Province-wide shutdown

Posted on Thursday April 01, 2021

Waterloo Region –Today the Province of Ontario announced it is imposing a Province-wide shutdown effective at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021 for at least four weeks.

“The situation remains precarious, our rates have started to increase again, and we continue to be at risk for a rapid acceleration in Waterloo Region,” said Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang, Medical Officer of Health.

“These shutdown measures are difficult but essential. Stricter measures will help control the impact and extent of the third wave and prevent the worst outcomes for Waterloo Region. An uncontrolled third wave would necessitate longer and harsher measures.”

Shutdown can be very difficult and may present hardships for our community.

Residents are reminded to stay connected virtually and be mindful of feelings of isolation. If you or someone you know needs help, remember that local mental health support is available.

Local, professional mental health support is available from Here 24/7 at 1-844-437-3247.
