City of Cambridge recognized for financial transparency and accountability in budget reporting

Mayor McGarry and staff accept Canadian Award for Financial Reporting

For the fourth year in a row, the City of Cambridge has received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (CAnFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), in recognition of its annual financial report.

The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting Achievement (CAFRA) was also awarded to the City’s Finance Division as the team primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning report. The presentation was made to City Council on February 18, 2020.   

This award program recognizes Canadian local governments that go above and beyond in the preparation of annual financial reports, modelling transparency and full disclosure. The annual financial report has been judged by impartial Canadian Review Committee members to meet the high standards of the program.

The City is committed to providing open, transparent, accountable and innovative leadership in local governance. Recognition of this award reflects the City’s strategic plan by demonstrating the responsible management of financial resources, ensuring transparency and accountability.
