Upcoming Film Project - August 30-31, 2019

The City of Cambridge is pleased to be welcoming the cast and crew from The Queen's Gambit to film scenes for their upcoming Netflix limited series. They will be filming both interior and exterior scenes in and around private residences as listed below on August 30 and August 31, 2019.  This project has only 6 days of filming scheduled in Ontario (the majority of filming has taken place in Europe), and is spending 2 of those days with us in here in Cambridge!  It is based on a novel by Walter Tevis and chronicles the life of a child prodigy, as she struggles with addiction to become the greatest chess player in the world.

Locations:

  • 15 Brant Road South (August 30 and 31)
  • 16 Blenheim Road (Morning, August 31)
  • 93 Salisbury Avenue (Evening, August 30)

Anticipated Impacts:

  • Full closure of Brant Rd S between Salisbury and Gladstone Avenues

Special Advisories:

  • Late night filming is anticipated
  • Potential light spill - production company has been advised to ensure disturbance to surrounding residences is minimal

Parking:

  • Basecamp and crew parking has been approved for Galt Arena

  • Displaced residents may be granted parking at Victoria Park and in on street spaces on Salisbury Avenue
