Region-wide fire ban takes effect in Cambridge beginning Friday, August 8 at 4 p.m.

In response to growing concerns around prolonged drought conditions and the escalating threat of fire ignition, a fire ban will take effect in Cambridge beginning Friday, August 8 at 4:00 p.m.

The decision follows a series of discussions with Fire Chiefs from across the region to develop a coordinated approach to better manage the urban/rural interface and prioritize public safety overall.

City bylaws have some exclusions that allow fires for the purposes of cooking food. During the fire ban that exclusion will not be allowed.

The fire ban will remain in place until such time as there is significant rainfall in the region. Cambridge Fire will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.
