Soper Park Closure

Posted on Thursday February 17, 2022

Soper Park will be closed indefinitely to pedestrian traffic. Current high water levels have caused extensive flooding within the park and the pathway system is under water. Due to the frozen ground conditions water is not able to properly drain away, and once the tempartaures rapidly drop, the area will most likely be fully locked in with ice. Soper Park will remain closed until further notice. The public is requested to stay away from all creeks, ponds and waterways; particularly during these dangerous wintery conditions. As well, any sloped areas can quickly become very slippery and should be avoided.

Some additional city parks and trails may become impassable as water levels rise and users should check the city website for any further closure notifications. Please note our natural trail areas cannot be salted or sanded as they are in evironmentally sensitive areas and they may have a hard ice pack overtop of them. Use extreme caution in these areas and adhere to all posted signage and to any closures by keeping off these areas.
