Community invited to Public Works Open House Saturday, May 27
The City of Cambridge is opening the doors to the Bishop Street Operations Centre on Saturday, May 27, 2023 as part of National Public Works Week (May 21-27).
“The City’s Infrastructure Services team plays an essential role in safeguarding and enhancing our quality of life each day,” said Mayor Jan Liggett. “From the water we drink, the roads we drive on and the parks we visit they are the caretakers of our city ensuring our safety.”
“This is an opportunity to honour our staff who keep our city running and give residents a chance to peek behind the curtain of our daily operations,” said Yogesh Shah, Deputy City Manager of Infrastructure Services. “Our committed teams work hard to make the city a place we can all enjoy and be proud of. They look forward to sharing their work with the community at this event.”
The Open House will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. rain or shine, admission is free. Those who attend will get a chance to meet City staff who work in our Infrastructure Services department, get up close to the vehicles they operate, take a seat in them or snap a photo. There will be equipment displays, the chance to paint a plow, face painting, giveaways and a sweet treat as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations.
Donations of food or money for the Cambridge Food Bank are appreciated.
The City of Cambridge thanks all our Infrastructure Services professionals for their tireless commitment to serving our growing community each and every day.
