Make your home accessible to all trick-or-treaters this Halloween!
Posted on Wednesday October 22, 2025
Help make this Halloween safe and enjoyable for all trick-or-treaters by being mindful of varying levels of accessibility. Not all children are able to walk up to a front door, yell “trick-or-treat!” or eat chocolate and candies. Here are a few ways you can make Halloween more accessible:
- Hand out treats at a location that is easy to access and away from obstacles or stairs, such as on the end of your driveway.
- Make sure the path to your trick-or-treating station is well lit.
- Have a few non-edible treats such as stickers, crayons, or small toys available to hand out to trick-or-treaters.
- Refrain from the use of strobe lights and loud noises which may be alarming for some.
We have partnered with the local RE/MAX Real Estate Centre to provide a limited number of free trick-or-treating lawn signs. By displaying one of these signs, you can let people know your home is accessible for all trick-or-treaters and help raise awareness around accessibility issues.
Pick up a free lawn sign from Oct. 22-31, at the following locations:
- Cambridge City Hall, 50 Dickson St.
- Cambridge Farmer’s Market, 40 Dickson St.
- John Dolson Centre, 212 South St.
- W.G Johnson Centre, 31 Kribs St.
- William E. Pautler Centre,1145 Concession Rd.
- RE/MAX Real Estate Centre, 766 Old Hespeler Rd.
