City launches enhanced 24/7 online process for residential parking exemption permits
Residents and visitors can now get a 24-hour parking exemption permit for residential streets through the City’s online parking exemption permit portal or by using City’s Service Cambridge mobile app.
Whether you have visitors staying overnight or are doing driveway repairs, getting a permit is easy. Simply create an account, complete the form and a permit will be emailed immediately once approved. For added convenience, permits will be issued electronically, and are automatically attached to the license plate, no print and display will be required.
The permit provides an exemption from the maximum 5-hour parking limit and allows vehicles to park on residential streets from 2:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. from January 1- March 15. Residents can obtain 15 permits a year per license plate, and each permit is valid for 24 hours. Multiple day and plate permits can be issued at one time for user convenience until maximum permits are met.
Parking exemption permits will not be valid or issued during active snow events when plowing and salting are taking place. It is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to park legally, as all other provisions of the City parking by-laws will apply (e.g. no parking, no stopping, 3m from a fire hydrant, 1m from a driveway, will still be enforced).
Residents who have questions about eligibility, or who need assistance with the online parking exemption permit portal, can contact Municipal By-law Compliance at 519-623-1340 extension 7907 or by email at bylaw@cambridge.ca.
