The Waterloo Region Small Business Centre (Cambridge office) is located on the 1st Floor, City Hall, 50 Dickson Street. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. For information, please call Ph. 519.740.4615 or Fax 519.623.0441
The Waterloo Region Small Business Centre assists existing small businesses and potential entrepreneurs investigating the opportunity of starting a small business. The mandate of the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre is to encourage and contribute to the enterprising spirit and economic development of our community by assisting entrepreneurs with the development of new or existing businesses.
The Centre is funded by the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, the Region of Waterloo, and the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation. Various corporate sponsors and community partners provide resources to the Centre through services, gifts-in-kind or financial contributions.

Our Services Include:
Start-Up Literature
The Centre has researched and simplified information on starting a new business. These documents are available to help entrepreneurs know what steps to complete when starting a business, who to contact, what financial assistance is available, and how to write a business plan to guide the business. Information is also available from the Ontario government and Revenue Canada.
Business Plan Review
The Small Business Advisors will review an entrepreneur's business plans and offer feedback and guidance. Small Business Advisors have industry knowledge on what various audiences (bankers, investors, etc.) are looking for in a business plan and they can help you tailor your plan to meet both the entrepreneur's and the audience's needs.
Facilitation for New and Expanding Businesses
Small Business Advisors are available to help facilitate business growth and business planning. The information provided is geared towards helping business owners help themselves and their business. These sessions are free of charge.
Reference Library
Each Centre has a business reference library that contains guides, directories, demographic information and other reference materials that may be used by entrepreneurs.
Market Research
The Centre employs a Business Information Officer to help entrepreneurs find information they need in order to do business or support information in their business plan. The Business Information Officer has access to government and private databases to help find information entrepreneurs request. Assistance with the creation of surveys to gather market information, demographic information, determining market research are all ways the Business Information Officer can help the market research process.
Computers
The Centre has computers complete with Microsoft Office and Internet capabilities available for business use by entrepreneurs. Computer use is free of charge with a small fee for printing.
Publications for Sale
The Centre has numerous business publications available for sale on starting businesses, running specific kinds of businesses, incorporation, and professional services. The Centre carries books published by the Self Council Press.
Business Name Registration
Staff at the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre will assist with on-line business registration, if required. The cost of registration is $60 (which expires in 5 years). Each business name search is $8. The hours of operation for registration are 8:30 am to 3:15 pm, by appointment only by calling
