Fire Museum and Education Centre

Our Mission

To establish and operate The Fire Hall Museum and Education Centre to be located in Cambridge at 56 Dickson Street, the Old Galt Fire Hall.

To provide heritage and safety programs with a focus on Fire Prevention and interpretation of the history of Cambridge and Regional Fire Departments and the Fire Service in general, for citizens and tourists.

To preserve our history, maintain and expand our existing collection of artifacts related to the Fire Services.

Saturday(s) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday(s) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 17 - Sept 9

Explore the Fire Hall Museum and Education Centre today! Learn more about the history of fire service in Cambridge and surrounding areas. Browse the Fire Hall Museum gift shop, an antique fire truck, the many firefighting items, and so much more.

The museum is now open Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Admission is free, but visitors are welcome to donate to the museum or bring a donation of a nonperishable food item for Cambridge Fire Fighters Basket Fund. The Cambridge Fire Fighters Basket Fund with the help of community partners, provide Christmas hampers for local families in need.

Meeting Room Rental Information

The meeting room has a capacity of 50 people. Note the building is not accessible.
Basic Rate - $20.00 per hour or $100.00 per day (25% Discount for CFD, Members, Donors)
A deposit of $30.00 is required at time of application.
Clean up completed by the renter - $30.00 is refunded.
Clean up completed by museum staff -$30.00 is not refunded.

Liquor Sales
  • Liquor license arranged and paid at LCBO by renter
  • Compulsory Liability Insurance Policy required by the renter
  • Arrange Insurance through renter's Insurance Broker
  • Last Call 12:30 A.M., close at 1:00 A.M.
  • Barkeeper must be Smart Serve trained and certified and paid by renter


Insurance - Tour, Special Event(s), Meeting etc. - N/C - covered by Museum's Insurance Policy.

Rental times are non-transferable and renter is not permitted to sublet facility time.

Stay tuned for the annual Tinsel and Toys exhibit at the Fire Hall Museum and Education Centre in late November. Each year the Fire Hall Museum is decorated for the holiday season and is packed with toys, including a large vintage toy train set - a must see!
