City Departments

TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING SECTION

The Transportation Engineering Section is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of City roads for the movement of people and goods. This includes the following key activities:

  • Transportation planning, including review and approval of Traffic Impact Studies for new subdivisions and site plans;

  • Traffic engineering, including traffic calming, data collection and analyses;

  • Traffic operations, including the installation of new traffic control devices and maintenance of the traffic by-law;

  • Municipal Class Environmental Assessment studies;

  • Safety and operational reviews;

  • Crossing guard operations; and

  • Street lighting, including the design and approval of new street light installations.
