The City of Cambridge is committed to maintaining a healthy environment for all of us and future generations to enjoy. Through leadership in building practices, the City of Cambridge achieved its highest honour when it was officially annouced on August 5, 2008 that it had earned its Gold LEED certification making it the first municipal government in Canada to receive this level of certification.

CEAC City Green Strategy 15th Annual Workshop: City Green, a subcommittee of the Cambridge Environmental Advisory Committee and dedicated groups of volunteers, hosted a workshop in the Cambridge City Hall Atrium and Bowman room. Themed "Eat Locally, Wisely", it explores one of the biggest emerging environmental issues - our food and food system. The food and environment theme boldly states that local food is not cheap, it's priceless. The emphasis was on local producers and the community benefits including environmental, that arise when we "buy local, buy fresh" and build relationships with the real people that provide our food.
