Cambridge featured in Ontario Market Survey
In the most recent spring 2008 issue of Trade & Commerce magazine, the City of Cambridge was recognized for its superior dedication and commitment to environmental friendliness. Since opening its facilities, Cambridge City Hall has received a lot attention and praise for its Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building. As the first city hall in Canada to achieve its Gold certification, it's no wonder why people are talking.

According to Chief Administrative Officer Don Smith, "we should see a saving of $160,000 in energy per year over a traditional style building of this size. It is a culmination of 30 years of planning and development, although work began in earnest three years ago. It displays both the attitude and will of this progressive city - setting a great example that is both functional and at the same time, an environmental demonstration project.
![]() | Trade & Commerce magazine produces annual "Market Surveys" on all Canadian provinces and territories. The purpose of these surveys is to review the overall economic performance and growth opportunities in specific communities throughout Canada. This year, Cambridge City Hall was fortunate to be featured in the spring 2008 issue which highlighted many of the new "green" initiatives that the city has undergone in the building and design of its new facilities. Since the release of this issue, the city has undergone its Gold LEED certification assessment achieving its certification. |
