The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer
The City's Management Committee (Department Heads and the Mayor), which is chaired by the CAO, is responsible for making recommendations to City Council with respect to the formulation, analysis and implementation of policies and programs. The Chief Administrative Officer has specific responsibilities in respect of financial, personnel and property matters.
Born and raised in North Bay, Ontario, Gary is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with over 25 years of combined experience in the private development industry, with the Province of Ontario and within municipal government; the past 17 years of which with the City of Quinte West.
During his tenure with Quinte West, Gary served in a series of progressive roles for the City: Senior Policy Planner; Manager of Corporate and Economic Development; Director of Corporate Services/City Clerk; and the past 5 years as Chief Administrative Officer.
Gary is currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Municipal Administrators' Association and is the Past Secretary - and lead CAO - for the Eastern Ontario Mayors' Committee.
Gary is a strong believer in being active within his community as demonstrated by his 10 years of service with the Picton and Wellington Rotary Clubs in addition to serving on the Board of Directors for the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation as well the Board of Governors for Loyalist College.
Gary, and his wife Anita, have two grown daughters Jillian and Alex. In his spare time, Gary is an avid golfer and curler.
Gary and Anita are very happy to be part of the Cambridge community and look forward this new and exciting chapter in their lives.
