Official Plan Review

The current Cambridge Official Plan was adopted by Cambridge City Council in 1997 and approved with modifications and deferrals by the Regional Municipality of Waterloo in 1999. The Planning Act requires the Council of every municipality that has an official plan in effect to hold a special public meeting every five years to determine the need for a revision of the official plan.

On September 12, 2005, a Public Meeting was held to receive input from the community on the need and scope of the Official Plan Review. The Public Meeting served as the formal initiation of the Official Plan Review as required by the Planning Act.

The Official Plan Review process consists of four phases:
  • Identification of context and issues
  • Concept plan
  • Draft Official Plan
  • Final Official Plan

The Official Plan Review is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.

Official Plan Review Community Advisory Committee
