- Between the Green Roof and the Living wall, City Hall houses more than 3,000 plants
- With the ability to retain and deflect heat, the Green Roof will help to cut down on the need for heating and air conditioning
- Workers tend to the plants that for the first years will be tested for hardiness and resiliency
- The area of the Green Roof measures 30 metres long by 4.5 metres wide, providing a total space of 135 metres squared
- A combination of organic and inorganic matter is raked out over the membrance to act as a growing medium
- A crane is used to lift heavy bags of sand and soil that will help to drain and filter moisture
- A waterproof membrane lines the top of the roof to help support the growth of plants
