Vehicle Extrication

Definition: To free or remove victim from an entrapment of difficulty to a place of safety. To do this without causing further injury to the victim or aggravation to the scene.

Responsibilities
  • To prevent, control and extinguish fires
  • To make accessible and readily removable any trapped patients
  • To assist with removal and patient care as necessary


Stabilization
Upon arrival at a scene we must:

  • Stabilize the scene
  • Stabilize the vehicle
  • Stabilize the casualty


Statistics

  • Over 400 vehicle accidents, this is not including minor fender benders
  • One station & truck, rescue truck, police, and ambulance
  • Cambridge Auto Wreckers supplies vehicles for training
