Cambridge Professional Fire Fighters' Association
The Cambridge Professional Fire Fighters' Association represents approximately 130 full-time employees of the City of Cambridge Fire Department.
The Association represents members in six divisions: Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention, Public Education, Training and Development, Communications and the Mechanical Division.
Our Executive Board consists of a President, Vice-president, Secretary, Treasurer, and three (3) Stewards. Numerous members sit on committees such as Health and Safety, Grievance, Negotiating, Policy, Muscular Dystrophy, Benevolent and Public Relations, Legislative, Retirement and Basket Fund.
The CPFFA is strongly based in the community. Our Benevolent Fund/Public Relations Committee donates in excess of $10,000.00 annually to less fortunate individuals, families and smaller, locally based charities in Cambridge and North Dumfries. Our partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada has generated over $100,000.00 in the last seven years through our annual boot toll at Cambridge Centre. Our longest running charitable effort has been our Christmas Basket Fund, where we, with the help of community partners, provide Christmas hampers for local families in need.
In the Spring of every year we set time aside to honour our current and former retirees with a banquet and dance. Dignitaries from the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments, as well as Executive Board members from the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association, gather with local members to salute the contributions made by these members to our community.
