City Departments

Taxation

The City of Cambridge is responsible for billing and collecting taxes on behalf of the City itself, the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, and the four school boards – the Waterloo Region District School Board, le Conseil Scolaire de District du Centre Sud-Ouest, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board, and le Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Centre-Sud.

The amount collected is based on the budgetary needs of these bodies. Tax rates are determined and these rates are used to determine your municipal property taxes.

Taxes = Tax Rate X CVA (Current Market Value Assessment) of the property.

For additional information on your Property Assessment, please access the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation web site.
