Who is Cambridge City Green?

An intro to Cambridge City Green gives you some background on the group's people and projects.
Cambridge City Green is a group of volunteers who encourage and coordinate community projects that benefit our local environment and promote

individual lifestyle changes for a sustainable Cambridge. Cambridge City Green is a subcommittee of the Council-appointed Cambridge Environmental

Advisory Committee (CEAC). Cambridge City Green volunteers have initiated the Cambridge Stewardship planting projects, coordinated annual litter clean ups, and have regularly hosted an annual event (City Green Movie Nights).

Help Cambridge City Green plan and implement projects! Contact Paul Willms (519) 740-4681 ext.4262.

Cambridge Stewardship
Cambridge Stewardship is a community-based tree planting - check out Cambridge Stewardship in pictures - and stewardship program that was initiated in 2007.

To date, the cumulative accomplishments include the following:

  • 10,000+ native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers planted to date
  • 150+ native species have been established at 23 sites across the city
  • 80+ planting events have hosted well over 3,000 volunteers from over 70 groups
  • 701.4 tonnes GHG sequestered; 8.77 tonnes per year until 2090s
  • For every $1 City funds ($42,021 in total), community partners contributed $3.59 ($150,855). The City's $161,671 cash and in-kind contributions have leveraged $376,709 from funding partners, community groups, and volunteers over the past 9 years
