The Community Services Department works to ensure recreation facilities, programs, green spaces and consultation services are provided for the enjoyment and well-being of the citizens of Cambridge. These services ensure that all residents, regardless of their recreational interests, capabilities, or financial status are able to participate.
It is the policy of the City of Cambridge Community Services Department to work in partnership with volunteer groups and organizations in the city in providing recreation opportunities.
The City of Cambridge recognizes the value of recreation services and celebrates the personal, social, economic and environmental benefits that these programs and services provide.

A recent consultant's report was presented to Cambridge City Council on January 14, 2013 regarding a strategic land use plan for Riverside Park in Cambridge.

The Corporate Sustainability Plan (CSP) is an overarching, umbrella document that guides the Corporation of the City of Cambridge's actions to implement the existing and future City Master Plans and Strategic Plans. At the forefront of the planning process is the City's intent to sustainably implement its suite of existing Master and Strategic Plans that have been adopted by Council, before recommending new sustainability initiatives.
